Level 8 Boardroom, 1 Shelley Street, Sydney 2000
Steve Killelea is an accomplished entrepreneur in high technology business development, having successfully built two international software companies. He now dedicates most of his time and fortune to philanthropic activities focused on sustainable development and peace. His most recent venture, the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), is an international think tank with a particular emphasis on the economic benefits of peace. Steve’s founding of IEP was recognised as one of the 50 most impactful philanthropic gifts in Australia’s history. In 2010 Steve was honoured as Member of the Order of Australia for his service to the global peace movement and the provision of humanitarian aid to the developing world. We will chat to Steve about the IEP's ground-breaking research which includes the Global Peace Index. We'll learn how measuring peace at the global and national level allows us to assess the social, political and economic factors that create peace, and gain an understanding of why this is so important. With everything going on in the world right now, there's no better time to be hearing from Steve. We are honoured to have him as our special guest and first speaker of 2017.DESCRIPTION
